Acclimatization day in Dingboche (4343m)
24 December 2005
Rest and acclimatization day in Dingboche with a short hike to Chhkhung. Dingboche is the ideal place where to spend an additional night, for better acclimatization to high altitude, when trekking along the trail from Lukla to Everest Base Camp. A short day trek to Chhkhung lets to appreciate beautiful himalayan landscapes and to explore the pastures at extreme altitude used during summertime.
This is a nice acclimatization hike of about 4 hours round-trip, and a climb of about 250 meters. From Chhkhung there is a nice view of Lhotse and other important peaks.
Nice glaciers on the mountains all around.
More photos of Chhkhung before trkking back to Dingboche for the second consecutive night to be spent above 4000 meters.
