The tour to Shanghai continues with a stroll along Nanjing Road, which is much more busy than usual, because of the holiday season in China.

The next day, another Shanghai city tour starts with a visit to the Yuyuan gardens. The top-left picture shows the tree of the wishes (wishes are written on a red stripe, that is thrown on the tree: it is stays on the tree without falling, the wish may become true). Other pictures: before the garden's entrance.

Where is located the tallest TV tower in Asia? My Shanghai tour continues visiting the Oriental Pearl TV Tower which, with its 468 meters of height, is the world's third tallest TV tower and Asia's highest (at least, while I'm writing this trip review in 2006)

Where is located the most beautiful museum in China? The day in Shanghai continues with a visit to the Shanghai Museums, the most important and biggest museum in China. The halls are distributed on 4 huge floors.
Pictures from Shanghai Museum: some beautiful ancient jade items (there are hundreds, or maybe thousands of them inside the museum).

Some pottery.
The day tour in Shanghai finishes with a visit to the Jade Buddha Temple. The highlight of this temple, is the 2 meters tall Buddha statue, entirely made in jade (no picture permitted). There is also a smaller jade statue, with a replication in marble, for with it was permitted to photograph.

The following day, I make a full day excursion to the water town of Zhouzhuang. It is a nice town about 1000 years old, but perhaps too commercial now. It is often called the Venice of the Orient or the Venice of China, because of the many water channel everywhere in the city, resembling the famous city in Italy.

During my day tour to Zhouzhuang, it was also possible to visit some cottage that was the home of the most important and reach people, like for example the Shen.
