Salt lakes of Ubari oasis in the Sahara
13 October 2007
A full day tour onboard our Toyota cars going up & down on the huge sand dunes, discovering the salt lakes of Ubari oasis. In the evening, we go back to Sebha where our Sahara desert adventure ends.
The warm light of rising sun illuminates the sand dunes.
Ma Fu lake.
Gabron (Gebraun) lake, the biggest lake and oasis in the sand dunes of Ubari.
Other views onto Gabron lake and the surrounding landscape.
We try to reach another lake... but where is the track???
Once the driver finds a suitable place, we descend the dune.
The beautiful salt lake of Oum El Ma. We eat our lunch here, in the shadow of a palm tree. Somebody has a swim: as the water has much more salt than sea's water, it is very easy to float.
Other 4x4s coming...
The nice landscape around the lake, with beautiful palm trees and sands of different vivid colours.
The last stop is at Mandara oasis, where there is a ghost town and a dried lake.
Back in Sebha, comfortable bungalows await us. Our fantastic desert adventure ends here.
