Traveling to Sahara desert from Sebha
6 October 2007
A long day trip by Toyota 4x4 from Sebha to the Acacus mountains, in the heart of Sahara desert. Brief stop in Germa, Ubari and Al Uwaynat to get the last provisions and register our Libyan visa with the local police office.

We stop in Germa and Ubari to buy the last provisions and register our libyan visas to the local police office.
Although the climate is very dry, there are small farms. They are often irrigated by "pivot", a mobile wing moving in circle. The farms are thence visible in Google Earth
as green circles in the middle of nothing.

We stop in the shadow of an acacia for the lunch.

A market in the town of Al Uwaynat.
It is late afternoon when, from Al Uwaynat, we start to drive offroad to reach the heart of Acacus.
After few kilometers, the first bizzare-shaped rocks, typical of the Fezzan region, begin to appear.
We reach a very picturesque site where to build our campsite fot the night.
